Image MB11083971B&W - Bordeaux Slipway

I have returned repeatedly to this lengthy slipway on the Island's east coast since I first photographed it three years ago. This image was made just before dawn on my most recent visit.

Clouds, heavy with rain, moved in rapid succession from the south west, offering little hope that the impending sunrise would find space between them to cast some of it's warm, golden light.

That did not happen and the transition from night to day passed without fanfare, the winter scene remaining cold and almost devoid of colour.

Thankfully there was just enough light for me to make this image. I used a one minute exposure to harness what little light there was which happened to be concentrated perfectly above the tip of the submerged slipway and the islands of Herm and Jethou.
